r MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE TUESDAY, APRIL 18, 1995 TOWN HALL Present: Merry sue Ahlgren , Janice Mills , Paul Griffin , Steve Greellish , Peter D i n i z i o, Joe Polito Also Present: Ed F renette , Joel seeley , Tom Wren , D r . DeMou ra, Greg Taylor, Gus Fredricks , Bill Hauck Meeting convened at 4: 05 p#m% MINUTES Merry Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of Larch 21st and April 1 1 th . The committee decided to hold off on this discussion until Joe Polito joined the meeting . BID DEPORT Joel explained they have tabulated the bids and will return l set back to the Committee . SMMA has reviewed the lowest bidsif Ed said the bottom line is there are no apparent problems with the bottom bids . Paul said the low bidder , Stone , asked for a 10 day continuance for their minority plan but that is in compliance. Town counsel has already heard from Eastern 's attorney ( the second lowest bidder) . Paul said Eastern i s not going to go away . There has been a protest against the mechanical and electrical sub bids . Griffin electric is in violation now, subject to doing more due diligence . Merry sue said considering the town has a history of problems with them ( Eastern) do they have to use them ( if it comes to that) Paul said the selectmen are reviewing the settlement agreement with Eastern , particularly the language regarding future 'obs . Paul said right now, stone looks good . He will be talking with Town Counsel again about the subs . It should all be wrapped up by next Monday . Peter said if there is a problem with a sub (one is challenged) could that change the GC order? Paul said it may . Both Stone and Eastern have selected the sags sub bids . Steve said he is aware of the things Eastern did previously and they were lucky to get- off with a settlement and not criminal charges ,. Peter said the committee should not speculate (about Easte rn ) and so as not to jeopardize the town ' s position . Ed said the Town has a lot of f l e i+b i l ity but they should exercise it through town counsel because of the focus on these bids by a number of people. Paul said he asked Chartwell and SMMA to submit a list of things for the Committee to review to be put back into the project, to meet the original intent and scope of the pro*ect , value added items that will save on operating casts .
