MA HPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY, DECEMBER 51 1995 <br /> HIGH SCHOOL SITE <br /> Present ; Bill Martiros , Merry sue Ahlgren, Peter pinizio , Steve Creelish, <br /> Paul Griffin, Joan Avant-Tavares , Jim Byrne, Tori wren, Ian Aitchison, Joel <br /> Seeley, Ed Frenette , John Williams , Br, Lincoln BeHou ra <br /> Absent -, Janice Mills , Joe Polito <br /> Meeting convened at 4 ; 10 P*m* <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> letter from the Plumbers Union requesting certified payroll records . Torn <br /> Wren and Jiro are working with Bob whritenour on this. <br /> Paul said Mr. whritenour should handle it, it is not theCommittee ' s <br /> responsibi1It . <br /> Tom has suggested they be allowed to review the records (which arye kept at <br /> the site) at a. time acceptable to Tom and/or JIM* <br /> Toxo mentioned a problem that has been brought to their attention where a <br /> mason was let go from his position but offered another position at an <br /> apprentice rate . What is to prevent this from happening to all workers? <br /> Paul suggested he talk to Mr. whritenour who can discuss it with town <br /> counsel. <br /> - There will be a meeting on December 6th at 7 : 00 on the Open Meeting Law. <br /> - A' s extra fee was approved by the Board of selectmen* <br /> ashpee water District has concerns about the dual fuel system and are <br /> suggesting some charges in the piping . It has been forwarded to sA. <br /> - Correspondence from the cape Cod Commission regarding the oil line . <br /> Since that letter, there has been a. public hearing and the Commission <br /> approved all the requests- additional fields , 1ighting, irrigation and <br /> provisions to use o i l for heating systems . <br /> MINUTES <br /> Merry Sue made a motion to approve the regular meeting minutes of <br /> 10/10 , 10/30 and 11/14 . All members were in favor 6-0. ** <br /> Jim Peters from the wampanoag Tribal Council was present to discuss <br /> concerns about local hiring by the contractor. <br /> Paul explained the selectmen voted to ask the contractor to do everything <br /> they could to hire local people . To date the contractor has been very <br /> willing to do that. However, we have no legal ability to require them to <br /> hire local people . The contractor has been very happy with the local <br /> people they have hired. At this stage o f the project, they are dealing <br /> with a lot of specialty trades so there is not a lot of local. hiring + There <br /> is one subcontractor who is not hiring local , he is busing in his laborers* <br /> Within 2 weeks , the ,fob should be able to accommodate the hiring of some <br /> more local people * The town continues to ask the contractor for the <br /> records of their local hiring . Mr. Peters should encourage tribal members <br /> 1 <br />
