** Vote on the motion to not recommend trailers: 6 members
in favor 1 against ( ( Steve ) .
(Peter Dinizio left the meeting )
FIELDS
Joel explained there was a meeting with Dan Solien, Tom, Jim,
Alan Scott and the irrigation sub contractor to discuss the
condition of the fields . Because the fields were finished late
and no corrective work has been done, they did not fertilize and
they were not irrigated, they have deteriorated. Dan has prepared
a 10 part recommendation. Stone has concurred they would perform
these tasks . The irrigation system and well will not be done
until August. Stone will have to water with temporary water.
They are to split seed the fields by June 15th. There has been
no activity on this . There have been rumors that Stone does not
intend to provide water but this has to be confirmed.
Steve said Stone made a commitment last year they would water and
they never did.
Paul asked if the fields fail , is there any reason we can't make
them sod it?
Joel, explained Dan Solien said sod is not the way to go for
athletic fields .
We should, and can, pursue re-claiming money appropriated for the
fields , now that they are deteriorated.
Joel asked if we should pursue an extended maintenance period
with Stone , since the job will be finished August 23rd and they
are only re--seeding now?
Paul asked SMMA to review Stone ' s obligation regarding the fields
and notify them of how we interpret it - if they re-seed the
clock starts again.
Steve said this is too big an item for the school department ,
once they own the building. It has to be done correctly.
Jim suggested taking the money back, put a dollar value on it.
Paul is concerned with that approach because it may get deleted
from the project and then becomes and expense to the school
system. We may want Stone to give us a bond.
Impact of infiltration of Water into the Building :
Joel explained he had a concern about mold in some areas and
wanted it tested. He wants to know what has to be done so
direction can be issued to Stone for work they must perform and
also monitor that performance . The firm was here on Friday and
Monday for initial findings . They found a substantial amount of
mold, water damage and high humidity in derrick 6 and a minimal
amount in derricks 1 & 2 .
The proposal by OccuHealth is to do an analysis of the
conditions , provide a remedial action plan and provide
monitoring .
5
