Paul said we will request that of Stone . It will heat up fast .
Steve said they still have to get the humidity controlled.
Paul said they will have to use some de humidifiers .
He said the bonding company knows what is going on here and they
don't see the risk.
** Peter made a motion to go forward and not recommend to
the School Committee that they lease temporary classroom
space for September. Merry Sue seconded the motion. **
Dr. DeMoura said the most important thing is the program, to the
parents and students . If there is any reasonable way to be in the
building , by September, if not sooner, that is the preference .
To move two times during the year is very disjointed.
Paul said once Stone knows we vote for trailers , the job will
come to a halt .
Steve said Stone ' s track record is contrary to what he has just
heard.
Peter said the job has turned around 180 degrees since Liberty
has been on the job.
Steve said they still haven't made the schedule, never mind make
up for lost time. We will be forced to take occupancy of a school
that is not ready and it will be a disaster area. This is a
gross mistake.
Peter said if it wasn' t for Liberty, he would agree with Steve .
Paul said the entire building will be 100% tight by June 14th.
Steve said section E has massive moisture problems , walls have to
come out . They have no margin for error.
Paul said we all knew it would be a horse race when we started.
Steve said he wants an honest opinion from Chartwell and the
clerk. Can this be done?
Tom said Chartwell ' s job is just to give facts, not judgement . He
and Jim Byrne prepared their opinion.
For Stone to complete the job, within their contract , with all
is dotted and is crossed, they do not think they can complete
the entire building but do think the classrooms will be ready.
There has been a substantial gain since Liberty became involved.
1 or 2 areas that have been on hold may be late . The
administration and library areas, because of moisture, may be a
little more problematic. There are 11 weeks remaining. If Stone
really shoves, with overtime and weekend work, it is achievable.
Bill asked what if this isn' t complete and there are no trailer?
Dr. DeMoura said there are always other possibilities . The first
contingency plan he prepared did not require trailers . It is not
recommended but there are other options .
** Peter made a motion to move the motion. Janice seconded
that motion. 6 members were in favor, 1 against (Steve ) .
4
