will clearly be done before Aug. 23rd .
There is a mold problem in section E, on the first floor. They
may have to remove some sheetrock.
Sewage Treatment plant, the pumps will be here on June 17th.
Woodard and Curran said we could use a high quality
ejection/sludge pump, if necessary. We could also ask DEP for
approval for pumping of a day tank.
Paul asked how we resolve the problem of running the plant for 30
days with no use of the sewage system?
Steve said for hydraulic flow testing , they will make sure the
system hydraulically functions . They will "feed" it and it can
be "seeded" . It can be on line for the workmen to use. They can
then recycle it for 30 days, as long as they have something to
work with.
Paul said there are 2 target dates:
- the contract dates of July 23 and Aug 23
- the realistic date of Sept I when the building needs to be open
for students .
There is more than enough time to finish this project, with time
for furniture vendors and teacher move in. If we get stuck for
time , we can shorten the vendor time and teacher set up time .
That is better than setting up trailers and then moving again
into this building .
Joe asked if any other problems could happen with the waste water
treatment plant?
Steve said it could possibly run as a tight tank but you can' t
run the plant in that mode , so the system would have to be shut
down and then run it , which is a problem. It will cost $300 per
day to pump it . The system has to be operating before 400 kids
enter the building . He has a problem with a target date only 30
days away, he does not see it.
Paul said, worst case , we could force Stone to work 24 hours a
day. He spoke with Jim Rudnick from Liberty and told him the
decision that has to be made about the trailers . He agreed we
would force Stone to work overtime to finish it.
If we get the trailers , equipment has to be moved into the
trailers , then move it out again, and there will be significant
legal costs . Mr. Rundich said this will become a major legal
battle for the town. A lot can be spent on over time to finish
the school that would otherwise be spent on legal costs .
Paul ' s recommendation is to not get the trailers and go with the
school .
Steve said he has looked at the CPM and talked to the experts and
toured the school . It isn' t there, it can' t be done. He doesn't
want to see the town be forced to take occupancy because we have
no other choice.
Paul said he has looked at the man hours to finish A,H & E and it
is not a lot .
Joe asked if they can get the building heated by next week?
3
