will not get a CO . The material is not yet on site . It is due to be sent
out early in November .
Stone has no completion schedule for those areas that we know of .
Joel said the expansion joint material is fire rated and it is for the wall
at the gym. It has to be in, it is a life safety issue .
Peter said assuming we get that material in soon, is the auditorium still
not close to complete?
Joel responded no , it could be soon .
Dr. DeMoura said the School Department has some real issues . Physical
Education cannot continue outside , in the parking lot . As a school system
we have to have a plan for physical education and sports practices which
will have to be held at the other schools . We need to know.
Peter said it is not the architects call . Stone is contractually liable
for opening the building and providing us with information. What decisions
are you ( Dr . DeMoura) asking us to make?
Dr. DeMoura asked when they can expect to use the cafeteria and gym and
related art and music suites? That information is needed to get plans in
motion .
Joel said to complete the punch list items from the gym and cafeteria Stone
could work off school hours . It is the fare proofing material at the
expansion joint that is hold things up.
Tom Wren said that Paul has been in touch with Pat Costello ( town counsel )
but he does not have the details .
Dr. DeMoura said it sounds like we won ' t be able to take occupancy of just
the gym and cafeteria , it has to be all together. When will that be:' He
is not comfortable that it will even happen in ;November.
Tom Wren said last Wednesday was a regularly scheduled owners meeting and
one-half hour into the meeting Stone called to say no one from Stone would
be attending . Senior Stone staff on site is infrequent . There are only
about 10-12 men working in the building each day .
Dr. DeMoura said they cannot keep the students outside for phys ed much
longer .
Steve asked what kind of money this is costing?
Dr. DeMoura said it is $40 per trip between schools , they will need to make
at least 6 trips per day. And then there are teem practices to deal with.
Peter asked if Stone is making a good faith effort to get this work done as
soon as possible? This Committee should tell the Selectmen we feel Stone
could be making better progress . Our attorney should make contact with
their attorney.
Steve asked Peter to deliver that message to the Selectmen . Advise them
hat town counsel should become involved .
2
