Elias said there were also floor cleaning solvents in there . The levels
were 8 . 2 to 13 parts per billion of VOCs , drinking water standard is 5
parts . Elias was asked to poll Board of Health members whether they would
allow Stone to put in filtration systems and pump it all through the
filters . After filtering , if it fell to below 5 parts , could they then
discharge into the leaching fields .
The Board of Health wanted it to be at non detection levels , 0 , after
filtration, not 5 parts . Stone decided not to take the gamble and pumped
it all out of the tanks .
Peter asked if anything made it into the leaching fields?
Elias said it did not . He met with Mark Voto of Weston and Sampson today
at the plant . It was obvious that nothing had been discharged into the
ground. They will submit a written report .
Elias said because he wasn' t getting very far fast enough with Woodard and
Curran ( they are on vacation) he called the Vice President of Weston and
Sampson and said they wanted them to do whatever is necessary to get the
plant operational for school .
Woodard and Curran faxed a draft of their proposal of extra services to do
that .
Who will bear the cost of those services?
Paul said this Committee will be operating the plant for the first year, it
will be part of that budget . It will go on the list of extra costs for
Stone .
Elias said there is also an air quality issue - mold -- in the building .
The .Board of Health wants written certification from Occuhealth that the
mold issue is resolved before Elias can sign off on occupancy.
Paul said he met with Occuhealth. There is an area in the mechanical room
that has to be cut and repaired and another area on the second floor to be
cut out and fixed . Stone said they would do it today.
Elias asked if they have results from the carpet testing? Are the carpets
affected from dampness and mold?
Paul said Occuhealth does not have culture tests back. To his knowledge
there is no issue , except potential dust in A & B. They are presently using
only 10% filters not 30% but they will switch to 30% asap .
Once the mold is removed from those 2 areas , Paul knows of no other areas
that could be a problem.
They have not tested inside the ductwork yet .
Elias asked if the Board should vote to approve the amendment to Weston and
Sampson' s contract?
Paul asked what the dollar amount is? How can they vote on it without
knowing the cost .
Elias said when he gets it he will notify Paul .
** Paul made a motion to proceed with services as identified in the
Weston and Sampson proposal , contingent upon getting a dollar
figure to this Committee , not to exceed $20 , 000 . Janice seconded
the motion. All members were in favor 6--0**
4
