Joe Polito asked what the labor for CYC was <br /> Mike Kirwin explained it is for delivery*} unpacking, configuring of the computers to Maslipee <br /> standards, connect there to the network, trash removal. <br /> The two new laserP rinters will be put in the new computer labs . <br /> Codex video modem: ghat is the difference between this and satellite capabilities Paul <br /> explained Steve Greellsh said a lot of secondary schools don't have satellite hook ups but have <br /> video conferencing. It is cheaper than satellite hookup. <br /> Mike Kirwin explained satellite is good for receiving things. It is significantly more expensive <br /> to have 2 way satellite transmission. <br /> Paul asked the cost of the 6 isdn lines needed, per month? <br /> Joe Augenblick said it is 90 per line per month. Dr. Del oura said there is an educational <br /> discount. <br /> Mike Pietrowski said this system can he adapted to the A X system so video conferencing can <br /> be used in the entire building. It mares the most sense for this unit to be in the control room. <br /> The classroom would then need only a-microphone and camera. The High School is setting up a <br /> relationship with Stonehill College, so they can offer courses here. The Community College can <br /> do the same. Where will be a lot to offer for the teachers <br /> Joe Polito said it sounds lire this piece of equipment will complete the thought we all <br /> envisioned for this school. <br /> John Williams added that it wilt have a real benefit to students here because of the limited <br /> proximity to colleges. <br /> Peter asked if it can conduct one conference at a time? <br /> A& O'Connor said it can hold only l conference (subject) at a time but can tie in 4 locations. <br /> Mile Pietrowski added that it is good experience for the students to learn how to set it up and <br /> use it. They could move into a corporation with that experience. <br /> Paul suggested the School Department use it as a revenue producer by charging a fee for the use <br /> of the site and equipment. <br />_ Janice explained that pairt of Ed Reform is School to work. The technology we have really fits <br /> that beautifully,there are hundreds of different directions students can head right out of high <br /> school. <br /> Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their approval the Phase <br /> Technology list for a total of$452,506,00. Joe seconded the motion. <br /> Peter asked if of the t <br /> 000 left in the budget, we are now spending half of it? That is <br /> correct. <br /> All members in favor 5-0* <br />
