DRESS CODE <br /> Adapted for Kenneth C. Coombs School <br /> February 29, 2012 <br /> The Mashpee Public Schools expect students to maintain an appearance that does not <br /> violate reasonable standards and is conducive to cleanliness, safety,.good health, and <br /> appropriate conduct. Clothing worn to school should reflect a positive self-image and <br /> should not be disruptive or distracting to the educational process. <br /> 1. The following apparel including, but not limited to, may not be worn in school: <br /> a. Exposed undergarments <br /> b. Short shorts, and short skirts/dresses <br /> c. Clothing that exposes midsections and backs <br /> d. Hat and hoods <br /> e. Clothing expressing inappropriate language and images that are vulgar or <br /> profane or that advocate racial, ethic or religious prejudice, gang <br /> affiliation, or the use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol. <br /> f. Pajamas or pajama-like clothing <br /> g. Sunglasses <br /> 2. Local and State laws prohibit bare feet. Appropriate footwear should be worn <br /> with recess and physical education in mind. <br /> 3. Appropriate clothing must be worn during cold weather in order to participate in <br /> outdoor activities and recess. <br /> From time to time, special days such as pajama day or spirit day will be held. <br /> The administration reserves the right, if necessary, to add other items to this list, <br /> especially any and all items which negatively affect the safety and security of our <br /> students and staff. <br />
