Title VII Indian Education Parent Committee of the Mashpee Public Schools <br /> Minutes of Parent Committee Meeting <br /> April 10, 2012 <br /> The meeting was convened at 6:13. <br /> In attendance were Allyson Pocknett, Kristine Foster, Celina Gonzalez, Liz Vicira, <br /> Suzette Spinola, and Morgan Peters. Also present was school staff Deb Goulart, School <br /> Committee representative Kathy Stanley, and Title VII program staff Shani Turner and <br /> Eleanor Jackson. <br /> The meeting was called to order by Allyson Pocknett, Chairperson. <br /> 1. Unanimous approval of Minutes for March 13, 2012. A motion to accept the minutes <br /> was made by Allyson Pocknett, and seconded by Celina Gonzalez. <br /> 2. Allyson Pocknett nominated Kendall Scott as a student representative. Ms. Scott is in <br /> 9th grade and her activities include participating in youth council and tutoring. Liz Vieira <br /> seconded the nomination and it was unanimously approved. <br /> Liz Vieira nominated Lishell Mathis who is also a freshman. She tutors, runs winter <br /> track and is a cheerleader. She also volunteers at the Noah Shelter and tutors. Lishell has <br /> a 3.9 GPA. Allyson Pocknett seconded the nomination and Lishell was unanimously <br /> approved. <br /> It was decided that since there were two students interested, the Committee would allow <br /> them both voting rights as part of the Committee. <br /> 3. Report from Title VII Coordinator—not present at this time <br /> 4. List of Meeting Dates reviewed and confirmed <br /> 5. Grant FY 13—Discussion regarding the areas that grant money is utilized, including <br /> dropout prevention, attendance, reading, and other. The students stated that study skills <br /> and organization are also necessary for many students. It was agreed that these <br /> interventions should begin at the KCCoombs School. <br /> 6. Summer Plans—Allyson Pocknett suggested getting together next week to discuss <br /> summer plans as it is already April. The meeting will take place Tuesday, April 17, <br /> location still unknown. <br /> 7. Report from Title VII Coordinator—Out of 142 students, 106 ED506 forms have been <br /> collected. This form will be added for new students and available at PreK/K registration <br /> if possible. <br /> Mashpee Archives would like Quashnet students to have a field trip to the one room <br /> school house. <br />
