8 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 5, 2009 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Designation of Voting Member—MMA Annual Business Meeting: <br /> This year, the Massachusetts Municipal Association(MMA)Annual <br /> Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Hynes <br /> Convention Center. Each MMA member is entitled to one vote. As it <br /> pertains to the Town of Mashpee, voting requirements state that local <br /> officials must be; the chairman of the Board of Selectmen or another <br /> selectman designated in writing by such chairman. <br /> It was unanimously agreed Chairman and Selectman member John <br /> Cahalane would attend the MMA Business Meeting. Selectman Theresa <br /> Cook agreed to serve as the designated alternate representative if <br /> Selectman Cahalane is unable to attend. <br /> Acceptance of Resignation—Council on Aging: <br /> Correspondence was received from Rose A. Shanker dated June, 2008 <br /> resigning from the Council on Aging Board at the end of June. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to accept with regret,the <br /> resignation of Rose A. Shanker from the Council on Aging Board. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Recommendation for Appointment—Council on Aging: <br /> The Selectmen were in receipt of a letter of interest from Jack Jordan <br /> dated December 17, 2008 to serve on the Council on Aging Board to fill <br /> the vacancy created by Rose Shanker. Mr. Jordan has been very active <br /> with senior groups since moving to Mashpee in 1997. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cook to appoint Jack Jordan to the <br /> Council on Aging Board for a three year term to expire June 30, 2011. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
