M1 { <br /> f <br /> Board of Select-imen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 21 2009 <br /> APPOINTMENTS TTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Mashpee Census: <br /> Martha Guthrie of the U.S. Census Bureau was-in attendance to request <br /> the Selectmen's assistance to reach out to the Mashpee community to <br /> recruit temporary, part-tame census tapers for the 2010 Census. <br /> Approximately 400 short-tom jobs will be available in the spring for <br /> those in between jobs, for those who want to work part-time and for those <br /> who want to earn extra money while performing an important service to <br /> the Mashpee community. <br /> Every tern years, the Census Bureau reviews the population to determine <br /> how marry people reside within the nation, who they are, and where they <br /> live. The results of the infor ation determine the representation within <br /> government and the data also determines how federal funds are spent in <br /> . the community on projects such as roads, pans, housing, schools, <br /> hospitals and public safety. <br /> All census tapers must be U.S. citizens, at least eighteen years of age or <br /> older. Census takers must speak English, but people with bilingual shills <br /> are encouraged to apply to assist in the communication process. Thej <br /> average rate of pay is between $12 & $19 dollars per hour. Most positions j <br /> require a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle with mileage <br /> reimbursement. This season marled the fourth year of the holiday <br /> event. <br />
