6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> .Tune 7, 2010 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS; <br /> Public Hearing.-Pnvate to Public Road Conversion—Bgyshore <br /> Drive/Brookside Circle: <br /> The Board of Selectmen opened the Public Hearing on the private to <br /> public road conversion of the following roads; Bayshore Drive and <br /> Brookside Circle as shown on plans-entitled Easement Taking and Layout <br /> Plan of Bayshore Drive and Easement Taking and Layout Plan of <br /> Brookside Circle dated January 2 , 20 10. Copies of the plans may be <br /> reviewed in the Office of the Board of selectmen at 1ashpee Towyn Fall. <br /> Cathermne Laurent,the Director of Public Works was in attendance to <br /> review matters pertaining to the roadway acceptance. The estimated cost <br /> of the roadways is $129,837.54. The maximum betterment cost to be <br /> borne by 51 property owners is $2,545.83. It was noted that all property <br /> owners have received notification of the proposed betterment. It was <br /> disclosed the cost may be paid at the time of billing or spread over a <br /> twenty year Payment period. <br /> The Hearing was opened to solicit comment. <br /> Peter Squ glia of 44 Bayshore Drive e a l ed why it is necessary t <br /> completely replace the entire street, Mr. S lueglia indicated the bulk of the <br /> expenses are related to leveler and concrete. <br /> In response the DPW Director indicated the road is approximately 30 <br /> years old. It's the intention of the betterment to replace 2"of existing <br /> asphalt to protect the Town from future repair costs for an estimated ten <br /> years. TMs. Laurent indicated there has been a reoccurrence of road <br /> cracking. It was noted the Water District installed an overlay in 2002. <br /> And, in an eight year period, the road cracks have re-appeared a number of <br /> times. The new road as proposed will meet Town goad standards. <br /> Jack Walsh, 47 Bayshore Drive stated that he has been a resident for the <br /> past ten years. In his opinion, the cracks may be caused by the installation <br /> of cable as they appear to be at a set spacing in the road. It was agreed at <br /> that timel, it was a former natter associated with the cable provider under <br /> contract with.the homeowners association. <br /> 4 <br />
