Board of Selectmen Minutes August 22, 2011 NEW [ SASS: Proclamation—Suicide Prevention Week: On behalf of the Board of Selectmen, Mrs. Sherman read aloud the Proclamation designating September 4, 2011 through September 10, 2011 as"National Suicide Prevention Week"in the 'down of Mashpee. Mauna weir was in attendance to speak on behalf of youth suicide prevention. Ms. weir indicated for the past two years she has participated in youth suicide prevention outreach, a grant fended position at the Community Health Center in Mashpee. It was disclosed there has been 130 suicides on the Cape and the Islands in the past four years. It is the third leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 15 to 2 . Ms. weir indicated the outreach program serves as a resource for parents, and screenings are held in the local schools. It was announced that world Suicide Prevention Day is scheduled to be held at Trader Ed's in Hyannis on September 10, 2011. All proceeds from the evert will benefit the Cape& Islands Youth Suicide Prevention Project. Earlier this year,the Suicide Street Outreach Program net before the Board o Selectmen. It is expected the Board would receive an update in approximately two months to review the results of the community outreach initiative. Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to approve the request of the Mashpee +vapanoag Rod & Gun Club to use their liquor license on September 4, 2011,granting the license two days prior and one day after to allow for delivery,set-up and removal { Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara.
