4 <br /> Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Wednesday,February 13,2013 <br /> Torn Hall Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members 'resent: Irving Goldberg, Steve Cook, and Joe trait. <br /> Absent: Eugene Smargon. <br /> Also 'resent: Catherine Laurent,DPW <br /> Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at : o p.m. <br /> Approval of Minute <br /> Irving Goldberg motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of July 19,2012 as written;Joe Brait <br /> seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: 2 Yes; I Abstain. <br /> Irving Goldberg,Yes. Steve Cook,abstain. <br /> Joe Brest,yes. <br /> Old Business— date on Archives Pro`ect <br /> Steve Cook advised that there was a meeting held on Tuesday with Ken and Ernie(architect)from BLW <br /> to try to change design in order to reduce Archives renovation cost. Biggest ticket item is HVAC system <br /> that was proposed in the estimate. <br /> Catherine Laurent said that before the meeting with BLw et al. she was at a meeting with the <br /> subcommittee appointed by the Board of Selectmen to talk about options and the consensus of the <br /> subcommittee was to look at renovating the building but loop at the scope. <br /> Steve said at the meeting with BLW they said look at doing the whole first floor for archives with <br /> handicap accessibility and the tower level will be for storage of documents and they are going to loop to <br /> get a grant to scan the documents so that amount of documents to a protected will be a small amount. <br /> Therefore, going with standard HVAC system that gives beat and air conditioning,with humidity control. <br /> Irving Goldberg commented that this proposed system will also enable control of humidity more easily. <br /> Steve informed the Committee that another project that came up that Catherine and Joyce Mason have <br /> been working on is to do the men's and women's bathrooms for the Community Park. Going to integrate <br /> the 2 bathrooms either-into the basement part of this building and use the existing footprint of the building <br /> and do a rarnp or do an addition. The architect and the engineer are going to give us the sketch and state <br /> the lowest price. Where will be a separate pool of money to fund the 2 bathrooms. <br /> Catherine said theme were a few other tweaks suggested to make cost savings. She said the fire <br /> suppression had already been eliminated. Also, in upgrading the electrical there may also be the ability to <br /> pull some money from the Community Park project because the electrical is also going to be feeding <br /> the lighting for the Park. Catherine said once we get estimates vire can go forward with dans,going out <br /> for bid,etc. <br /> Catherine advised that another project going on in conjunction with the Community Park is we have <br /> design on hors to tie Town lull and that property and have a ramp design. Catherine said vire will be <br /> moving forward with completing,the 3 Projects-namely,completing the parking lot and ramp; doing-the <br /> archives building; and doing the Park. Catherine said hopefully finding for the Park will be going to May <br /> Town Meeting. It is Community Preservation as well. <br />
