i <br /> • Reorder of Human Services Brochures <br /> The committee agreed that it was important to have a sufficient supply of Human Services brochures <br /> on hand and gave Gail Wilson the go-ahead to re-order additional brochures when necessary. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Exploratory Committee: Multi-Sergi Center—Janice Walf rd <br /> Janice Walford gave the following report on her research into the establishment of a l lashpee <br /> Service Center. <br /> 1 The suggestion was presented to John Cahalane, .dye Mason} Torn Mayo, Dawn Thayer, Marl <br /> Davini in simple teras: a possible public-private partnership between Mashpee and the St. Vincent <br /> de Paul Food Pantry SDP . Ilashpee's role would be to provide a parcel of land appropriate for <br /> such a facility. <br /> 2) S DP and, lashpee residents would be enlisted in a fund-raising capital campaign for the <br /> building. All-volunteer staff would keep overhead costs to a minimum. <br /> 3) Talk to SDP about its willingness to partner with the town. Talk to Falmouth and Harwich <br /> Service Centers to study costs of their operations and get details about their capital campaigns. <br /> 4) Investigate possible available land parcels available for a service center; enlist support for Town <br /> Meeting approval of transfer of a land parcel to anon-profit food pantry organization. <br /> M .Walf rd stressed the importance of gaining support of the B s, the Finance Committee matte and the <br /> Town Administration, and broad-based public outreach to the community as to the need for a <br /> l lashpee Service Center and public education about the role of the S DP. <br /> .Janice V alf rd agreed to chair a Hunan Services exploratory sub- rrmittee on establishment of <br /> Ma hpee Multi-Service Center. Committee members lathy Mohler Fariar and Elinor Glener <br /> volunteered to serge on the committee with IVIS. Walford. <br /> • <br /> Coordinator's Report— Gail Wilson . <br /> Gail Wilson distributed copies of her report to the committee. Highlights included.. <br /> - Wellness Conference; March , 5:30 PM at the l lashpee High School. The conference will focus <br /> n prescription drug abuse. Gail Wilson will represent the Human Services Department in a panel <br /> discussion' along with representatives from the Police and Fire Departments and I ANTI. <br /> - Mental lllhess Cases: there is an escalating problem regarding the lack of support for rental <br /> illness cases. South Bay Mental Health located on Fit. 130 adjacent to 11 ashpee Human Services, <br /> handles outreach, and will go to the home for counseling. Gail Wilson stated that this facility is one <br /> f the resources for Mashpee Human services. <br /> SIFT Loss SERVICES — Cynthia stead, Guest sealer <br /> Cynthia Stead was welcomed by the Committee. Committee members introduced themselves t <br /> Ms. stead. <br /> Ms. Stead stated that her facility offers five programs: <br /> 1 Adaptive Aids— items that assist the sight-impaired to function safely in the home <br /> 2 Education Program — provides information on new programs, new research efforts <br /> 3 Information & Research h (AR) <br /> 4) Outreach — Keeping case workers and others informed as to available help to the sight- <br /> impaired <br /> 5) Support Group — provides transportation to support meetings held in the Senior Center <br /> 2 <br />
