PUBLIC COMMENTS TS— None. REVIEW OF MINUTES —6/19/2014 Mary Scanlan made a motion to approve as presented the Human Services minutes from the June 19 2014 meeting. Elinor Glener seconded the motion. John Cahalane abstained_ The motion was approved. i NEW USI ESS * Guest Presenter; Laura Mincer, Manager, Social Services,. Town of Scituate Ms. Minier introduced herself to the meeting and expressed her appreciation for the opportunity t meet today with the Mashpee Human Services Committee members. Ms. Minier is at the very beginning stages of developing the "Social Services" department and wanted some guidance from the Committee. Ms. Minier stated that the Town Administrator and the Police Chief had appointed Ms. Mincer to the position of Social Services Manager, and are her primary contacts. Ms. Minier has been overwhelmed with requests for assistance from Police, Fire, Board of Health, Senior Center, Housing Authority and families who have all these needs that have never been addressed and don't know where to go with them. The Town Administrator has said that M.s. Minierts primary focus i:s the senior population but she also needs to address the needs of everyone else in the town, which is why her title is Manager of Social Services for the Town of Scituate. The Human Services committee members made the following suggestions to Nis. Minier. I. Develop a Mission Statement. 2. Build a Human Services Committee comprised of representatives each from the Senior Center, the Board of Health, the Board of Selectmen: Recreation ation Department, and other key town leaders, to support her in her effort to fulfill her job responsibilities. . Conduct a Needs Assessment Study for the Town of Scituate. . Establish contracts with agencies requesting assistance in order to support the various services that are being requested. 1
