x <br /> The Chair suggested that the Board of Selectmen had no control over MMR' -plans for the <br /> facility and that a load of 1.7 million gallons from Mashpee had already been provided to the <br /> NVAR. The new permit being sought by the MMR would cover 5 years_ Mr. Lyons stated that <br /> the letter would provide input from the Town, from an elected official, keeping the door open for <br /> Mashpee. Mr. Lyons wanted something legal expressing interest. Selectman o'Hara stated that <br /> the water District would be in control but Mr. Lyons responded that a letter would not be a <br /> commitment, but a formal letter of interest that Mshpee be considered. fir. Gobell agreed that <br /> the water District's permission was needed but Mr. Lyons suggested that the Sewer Commission <br /> and the Town were currently in charge of managing wa tcwater planning. Mr. Lombardo stated <br /> that the MMR would go with'whoever expressed interest first.but the Chair emphasized that all <br /> of the tens provided figures at the same time. There was discussion regarding the'milit .r ' <br /> intent to make their services more cost cffective but that they may not wish to run the facility. <br /> Mr. Gregg questioned whether the water District would oppose a letter of support to.the <br /> Selectmen but it was noted that the Nater District had committed to nothing regarding <br /> wastewater planning. Mr. York pointed out that the Town and the Sewer Commission were <br /> working toward developing a wastewater plan and suggested that the Town could send a letter <br /> saying that they want to plan to send cfflucnt to the Base.
