Ms.
Buschenfeldt's comment was that there was too much complicated tent in the brochurO and it
needs to be simplified for the general public. Bev lane also relayed the message that Jeff Gregg
was supposed to b .meetin' g.with Joe Lyons and Bev Dane to go over the WNMP brochure, and it
had not happened:"Nis K ne' r concerned about this because the brochure had gone out
without any input from Mr. Lyons and herself. The'Seleutmen immediately asked abut the progress bn the Water
Sewer District, which he could not answer because he is not involved in that particular project. The
SeIe ctmen suggested having a joint rneetin g with}th Sewer Comrni ss`ron and the Board-of
Selectmen to disduss this issue.: Torre Fudala stated, that the request.,foi''su h a meeting carne to
the Mater District who decided that they did not want to-have a meeting of that nature. Mr. Fudala
stated that the legislation passed back and forth between the attorneys and there was an - _
agreement made in June. The Water District attorney included it in the legislation but Town
Counsel crossed out what had bo an,-agreed. upon.-,Th6, ater District atto they'- w as directed to
restore the language, make a fever. hange relative'to ensuring the District had authority to use
alternative technologies such as -groundwater tr atment, finalize the document and send it to the
Selectmen. As soon as the Select-mn sign the-do ument,-the Water District will-call a special
meeting to sign it and pass it along to the legislature.
Tom Fudala stated that the-Selectm' en' were under the -mistaken iistaken impression that Paul Gobell was
supposed to be negotiating a deal with the Water District, which has nearer been a part of his
function. The Selectmen have now removed the October Town Meeting warrant article requesting
funding for Paul Gobell's position as Sewer Commission Administrator. Mr. Fudal- .,._ dvised Mr.
Gobell to focus his function on coordination with GHD inorder to finalize the plan, and not on
representing the`Town on the-B rn table CAC and the Faalmbuth Water Quality' ' C6 immittee. Mr.
Fudala's feeling is that this is a priority in terms of what small amount of money is left for Mr.
Gbell's time.
Joe Lyons stated his opinion that the Sewer Commission should initiate-a letter, signed
unanimously by the Sewer Commission me..mbers, stating that Paul Gobell's.e.mployrn nt is a
rtiti al issue in his direction for the future of.Mashpee aInd'processing the waste water, and that
not to ensure'leis-employment at this point would be ill-advised.- Mr. Lyons agreed to compose the
letter-and will send it out via-email-to ensure receipt by all Board of Selectmen. Mr. Fudala made
the observation that it is probably too.late in the process to reverse the decision to include the
article in the October Town Warrant.
2
fF ,
