Jeff granted to get information an the level of scope they are
looking for. Jeff said in general they (MEPA) want the Plan to commit to certain things with regard t
improvement to existing facility—(such as energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emission (GHG)
reduction measures). They wish to look at what existing wastewater treatment facilities use now vs,
the new facility or future uses.
The Committee stated this is just a Plan. We don't have "facilities" for comparison so Jeff should
make the statement we are making our best efforts; we have shown therm our cooperation and good
intent; and the Plan will identify proposed facilities and will identify that best practices will be used.
Glenn Santos added that he believes Mashpee does have a-T wn p lioy.and the statement could be
made that (new) buildings would meet these policy standards. .teff said that is a goad idea and such
statement would be included.
MMR(Joint Base Cape Cod)/SHELLFISH PROJECT MONITORING
.teff said he's focusing on area around John's Pond, 'Briarwood, Ash met, etc. just to show that MMIC
(Joint Base Cape Cod) is-the best option. Jeff said 11I111r- latest report states they have 150,000/day
flow treatment capacity at thplant. He said if you add a parallel train at the MMR treatment plant
and send the effluent 6v`e"r't8q"'KAMF 's discharge beds near the Cape Cod Canal, this would be
significantly less than the cost tb build a new facility ire the watershed .,. acre users; less cost; and a I I
going outside the watershed so not having to meet strict nitrogen limits in the plant effluent if
recharged within the watershed ,
