Don Clarke seconded the motion. The motion was
unanimously approved.
NEW BUSINESS
* WBNERR REPORT—John Singleton, Park Supervisor
John Singleton reported that it had been a good summer. The decision to lock the entry gates at sunset
was a wise one, which eliminated the vandalism on the beach after sunset. The entry gates will be open
until sunset from Labor Day to Columbus Day when the Park officially closes for the year.
Mr. Singleton reported that there were five lifeguards allocated for this summer, but there were only three
on duty. Next season, Mr. Singleton is requesting four lifeguards.
Revenues were up this season, with just shy of$50,000. Revenues have nearly doubled since 2008, with
40 more season passes purchased than last year. Also, there are more Mashpee residents using the
beach. All funds collected are directed to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts General Fund.
John Singleton stated that next year he would be requesting additional restroom facilities for the Park,
and he will need to recruit a new crew of lifeguards to replace the guards from this season, who will be
graduating from college in 2010.
1
