Town Fall
Meeting called Andrew Gottlieb
Type of meeting: Monthly
Sec-retary Barbara B.Nichols
Attendees: Members: Gilliam Taylor, Barbara Nichols, Debi McManus,
Guests: Mary Bradbury, Recreation, ation, Stephen Mone, Harbormaster, Diane
j Lang of Lowell Dolly Reservation, Brian Mauro
i .
The minutes of the January 23, 2014 meeting were accepted as written after a motion by Debi McManus
and second by Barbara Nichols.
Agenda topics
.
[Agenda topic 1] Lovell Holly Beach Closure, '.
{ Farrel operation V
Discussion: Diane Lang reported that the Trustees planned to line the beach on Lovell Holly on the
l ashpee Pond side with swim markers this summer and close the area to motorized boats. Canoes,
kayaks and sailboats would be allowed. She hoped to hear soon that a full time ranger had been approved
that would patrol the beach until 7 PM.
Mary Bradbury, the Recreation Director, discussed parking at the ramp area. The sign-off on the boating
rules would now be done in duplicate, so those launching a boat would only have to sign once that they
were aware of the boating rubs, and just show the paper at future launchings. 1t is hoped to extend the
hours of the boat ramp attendants and perhaps stagger heir six hours shifts to cover10- and 11:30 to :3 o
PQM. The most problems at the ramp occurred last year after the attendants left at 3 PM. Andrew will write
a letter to Jayce.recommending the later coverage and also holiday coverage at the ramp. Ramp attendants
should notify Police of problems in the parking lot, and Stephen Mone, the Harbormaster, with boating
violations on the water.
i
After hour problems should be reported to Dean Belanger of MEP,by calling Dispatch at 1- oo- 2- .
8075 and reporting the boat's IMS ##. Confrontation with unruly people should be avoided in all areas.
Conclusions: We hope to have later hours of boat launch coverage. Closure of the beach at Lovell Holly
to motorized boats is expected clue to unruly people.
[Agenda topic 2] 2014 Bass Tournaments
=r'
Discussion: Barbara obtained the bass tourney list from the Fish and Carne web site. As the list clad not
contain the number of participants, or tourney start tines, Barbara emailed the new Access Program
Coordinator, David I iotalevi, who responded with an updated pdf. containing the wanted information.
He also corrected a start time of 6 AIM on June lith, and reissued the permit for 7 AM.
