= ti [Agenda topic 31 Lowell Holly Bead.Use 2014
Discussion: Diane Lang did not attend the meeting, but Andrew summarized the trustee's decision of
narking off a swim area on the beach at the north end of Mashpee Lake so that Geoff Spillane could
cover the changes in the Enterprise. Motorized boats will be prohibited and only headway speed allowed
within 300 ft. of the swim markers. Canoes, kayaks and sailboats are allowed. The harbormaster will
enforce the activity on the water, while the trustees will lure additional staff, mainly for the weekends.
They are looking to hire a part time educator ranger to manage shore activity.
The trustees have been forced to restrict the use of the beach area to preserve the property and 'increase the
safety of swimmers. Signs will be posted at the State ramp to let boaters know. It is hoped that gaining
control of this area will decrease boating activity on weekends, which has become unruly and extremely
noisy at tines. It is further hoped that this solution will not have to continue for a long terra.
Conclusions: The northern beach on 1 lashpee pond will be posted as a swim area and allow non-
motorized boats only.
' r
[Agenda topic ] Spring Newsletter p
Discussion. Barbara has written an article on European frog-bit and angel wing. we will rerun the article
on illegal moorings being pulled this spring, and Debi offered to write a remif der on washing boats after
being in another body of water. we will also update and include the mass tournament listing. we hope to
get the newsletter into the Town ball before people begin picking up their beach and transfer station
stickers.
Conclusions: we hope to get the newsletter finished by the end of May.
[Agenda topic 51 MWLMC Vacancy
Discussion: A vacancy remains on this committee. we asked Geoff Spillane of the :Enterprise if he could
publicize the vacancy in the newspaper.
Conclusions: Someone to serve on this committee is needed soon.
The meeting was adjoum d at 7:58 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
A,Z"
r -
r
Barbara B.Nichols
