Page 9 Board of Selectmen Minutes June 27, 1994 COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE: Department Heads Reporting to the Board of Selectmen: To increase productivity and promote public awareness, Selectman Caffyn recommended to obtain input from Department Heads on a regular basis. Selectman Vaccaro indicated that he views this subject matter as the Executive Secretary's role and responsibility unless the issue is specific and requires the Board's attention. Selectman Mills indicated that she is in agreement with Selectman Vaccaro's recommendation. Mr. Whritenour will notify the Board regarding scheduled department head meetings. Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to support Department Heads reporting to the Board of Selectmen two times per year to be scheduled as an early agenda item to promote public awareness. No second. Motion does not carry. Utilization of Harbormaster & Animal Control Officer on Detail: Discussion followed relative to the use of the Harbormaster and Animal Control Officer as Special Police Officers for detail work. No action to the above. Harbormaster and Animal Control Officer to remain as appointed Special Police Officers for the town. Discussion followed with regards to Joe Polito working for the Building Inspector while being employed by the Assessors Department. No action to the above. It was noted that Mr. Polito was compensated during the transition period from each department for hours worked. Status of Military Assistance for Work on John's Pond & Removal of Foundation from Heritage Park: Status discussed as earlier agenda item. Attendance Records of Committee & Commission Members: Selectman Mills directed the Executive Secretary to submit a memo to all board secretaries regarding minutes. All minutes should be filed in a timely fashion. Copies shall be submitted to the Office of the Board of Selectmen and Town Clerk. Minutes should also be consistent and accurate *A copy of committee guidelines shall be included in the memorandum.
