Page 7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 24, 1994 <br /> Water District Fire Hydrants: <br /> The proposal provides for the Town to develop in the FY 1996 <br /> budget process, a system to provide for routine inspection and <br /> maintenance indicated Mr. Whritenour. It was noted that the Water <br /> District would continue to be responsible for all required hydrant <br /> repair at no additional charge to the Town. <br /> Fire Chief Baker was present.to address this concern with the Board. <br /> Mr. Baker recommended to allow the Fire Department to work <br /> closely with the Water District to ensure proper maintenance procedures. <br /> For the Board's consideration, Fire Chief Baker recommended to <br /> incorporate an "Adopt a Hydrant:" program for increased community <br /> involvement. <br /> Bill Marsters, a former Firefighter indicated that it is an advantage for <br /> the Fire Department to have knowledge of the hydrant locations. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa to move forward with <br /> the strategy as outlined by the Executive Secretary. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Dinizio. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Discussion of Meeting Room: <br /> Mr. Whritenour indicated that an accessibility study was conducted by <br /> the Building Inspector as requested by the Board. <br /> The exterior ramp itself is in compliance with ADA regulations indicated <br /> Mr. Whritenour. A non-skid surface will be installed as weather permits. <br /> The hand rail distance will be rectified to conform to the distance require- <br /> ment of one to one/half inch. <br /> With regards to the interior ramp, Mr. Whritenour indicated that the <br /> plywood floor needs adjustment. The slope will not be in excess of one <br /> inch for every twelve inches. Hand rails will also be installed for <br /> accessibility purposes. <br /> The total cost to repair the above is estimated to be$1,000. Funds <br /> are currently available in the Building and Grounds Account. <br /> As requested by Selectman Dinizio, Mr. Whritenour discussed the <br /> feasibility of extending the walls in the Great Room to create a meeting <br /> room for the Selectmen. <br /> A room similar to what exists in the Great Room is estimated to cost <br /> $2800 indicated Mr. Whritenour. <br />
