Draft 1 - March 16, 1995
Article 29. L
To see if the Town will vote to ap rop 'ate a sum of money for the purchase of a
data processing system for the vario own offices, including hardware, software,
installation, cabling, data conversio , airing, initial supplies and materials and all
other costs incidental and relate er o, and to determine whether to raise this
appropriation by borrowing or therwi and further to authorize the Board of
Selectmen to enter into an afire ment there r for a period in excess of three years, or
take any other action relatinreto,
Submitted by Board of Selectmen
Explanation: This article seeks funding for a necessary upgrade to the Town data
processing system to improve the operation of Town departments and to enable
several departments which the current system cannot accommodate to become a part
of the system to share data and automate manual systems.
Article 30.
To see if the Town will vote to renovate, equip, and furnish the Town Hall (Samuel
Davis School) and all necessary access ways and for said purposes and for expenses
incidental and related thereto, the Town vote to appropriate and incur indebtedness of
a sum of money and the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, be
authorized to borrow at one time or from time to time, a sum of money under and
pursuant to Chapter 44, Sections 7 and 8 of the General Laws, or any other enabling
authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town, or take any other action relating
thereto
Submitted by the Board of Selectmen
Explanation: The current Town Offices are located in the former Samuel Davis
School, a circa 1930s facility with a 1970s addition which was transferred to
Selectmen's control by the School Committee last year. This facility is badly in need
Of renovations to maintain the integrity of the original structure, and Town Offices
are extremely cramped and working out of very poor conditions. This article seeks to
fund the renovation of the existing building with additional office space added over
the 1970s'addition to preserve this historical resource while economically meeting
the Town Office Space needs for the next twenty years.
Page 12
