Page 6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 27, 1995 <br /> Memo from ,Waterways Commission re; Request by <br /> John's Pond Ski Team: <br /> Communication was received from Ben Gordon,Ch ' of the <br /> Waterways Commission dated March 17, 1995 requesting the Board <br /> schedule a Public Hearing on John's Pond Ski Teams proposal to <br /> develop locations for a slalom course and a ski jump. <br /> *Consensus of the Board to schedule a Public Hearing as requested. <br /> Neighborhood associations will be contacted in addition to public notice <br /> to be printed in the local newspapers. <br /> Q.LD B INE : <br /> Town Meeting 'Warrant for Review: <br /> Request for Article - Designation of Economic Opportunity <br /> pp y _ <br /> Areas: <br /> Sid Stern,Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and Wayne <br /> Duchemin,Economic Development Coordinator were present to recommend <br /> the Board place an article on the Town Meeting Warrant to designate the <br /> Industrial Park as an Economic Opportunity Area. <br /> Mr. Stern indicated that the Industrial Park has thirteen vacant lots in need <br /> of development. Designating the area as an Economic Opportunity Area <br /> will supplement the States classification of Barnstable County as an <br /> Economic Target Area indicated Mr. Stern. <br /> Economic opportunity Areas stimulate private investment and create local <br /> job opportunities noted Mr. Stern. Businesses are offered a 5%investment <br /> tax credit and lO%a abandoned building tax deduction in addition to <br /> municipal incentives. <br /> Selectman Dinizio indicated that target industries are reviewed case by case. <br /> Designating the Industrial Park as an Economic Opportunity Area will give <br /> the Town an opportunity to be competitive and attract businesses. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Vaccaro to draft a Town Meeting <br /> Article as requested to Designate the Industrial Park as an <br /> Economic opportunity Area. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Dinizio. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
