Page 6 <br /> of March G, 1995. <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 24, 1995 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> E <br /> Public Hearing - John's Pond Ski Team: <br /> The John's Pond Ski Team is proposing to amend the jump and <br /> slalom course to be sited 200 feet from shore in front of Mr. <br /> R <br /> ants <br /> propertylocated at 1S0 Ninigret Avenue. <br /> E <br /> E <br /> In addition to the siting, the time request has been amended to reflect <br /> 15 hours per week ; 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. indicated Mr. Ryan. when <br /> not in use the Ski jump yp will be towed to a mooring in front of the Ryan <br /> property, 150 feet from shore and stored on the beach when not in use. <br /> Selectman Mills opened the Public Hearing to solicit comment. <br /> Albert Orlando,President of the Ashumet and John's Pond Association <br /> expressed concern with regards to increased water traffic andollution <br /> effects on the pond. p <br /> Mr. Orlando indicated that the Association will be meetingduring the <br /> first week in May- n g <br /> ay to address this concern. He recommended the Board <br /> take consideration to postpone their decision at this time. <br /> Diane Rommelmeyer,President of the Briarwood Association resented <br /> . P <br /> a petition of approximately 29 signatures obtained in a two hourP eriod <br /> in opposition of the ski jump proposal. <br /> Ms. Rommelmeyer indicated that her Association has notet addressed <br /> this concern. y <br /> She also addressed increased traffic concerns and disruption <br /> to local fishermen and recreational activities on the pond that will result <br /> with the ski jump proposal on the waters of John's Pond. <br /> Deirdre Greelishindicated that she resides in the area and en'o s watching <br /> a y g <br /> the <br /> water activities. She recommended the Board consider granting the <br /> ski jump proposal on a trial basis. <br /> Mashpee's Harbor Master,Peny Ellis indicated that he opposes the <br /> ski.Jump course as it may present liability <br /> to the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Mr. Ellis indicated that the slalom ski course should be further from shore. <br /> Regulations dictate 150 feet from a moored vessel indicated Mr. Ellis. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman Mills closed the Public Hearing. <br />
