i <br /> Page 8 <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 24, 1995 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEA RINGS: <br /> Personnel Board re: Classification Study: <br /> Meg Ryan, Consultant for the Massachusetts Municipal Association <br /> Consulting Group was present to discuss the Classification and <br /> Compensation Study draft report as dated April 1935. <br /> Joseph Dellagala, Chairman of the Personnel Board and Marilyn Farren, <br /> Personnel Administrator were also present for discussion. <br /> Ms. Ryan reviewed the context of the draft report with the Board. <br /> To achieve internal equity among the positions in Town government, <br /> Ms. Ryan recommended the Board consider a (10) step plan. It was <br /> noted that the Town currently has a (5) step compensation plan. <br /> Forty-two positions were evaluated in the Compensation/Classification <br /> Study indicated Ms. Ryan. Of the 42, 12 are paid below recommendation. . <br /> One employee is paid above and the remainder are paid within the <br /> recommended pay range. <br /> Mrs. Farren indicated that the budget will be impacted the first year b' <br /> approximately $40,000 by implementing the (10) step plan. Thereafter, <br /> the budget will be impacted by 2 1/2% each year with each step increase. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro presented the Board with a spread sheet analysis of <br /> , p y <br /> current salaries vs. proposed grades and salaries. (enclosed) He <br /> recommended the Board place the study under advisement at this time. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Vaccaro to postpone the <br /> Personnel Administration Plan Classification Article until <br /> the October 1995 Town Meeting. During the interim, the <br /> Board will work with the Personnel Board to implement the <br /> Classification/Compensation Plan. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Recess: 9:55 p.m. Meeting to move to Selectmen's Conference Room. <br /> Meeting re-convened: 10:05 p.m. Selectmen's Conference Room. <br />
