Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 8, 1995 <br /> E <br /> E <br /> .APP0 NTS AND]HEARINGS: <br /> E-911 <br /> Jim O'Hare,Executive Director of the E--911 system for New England <br /> indicated that the implementation schedule has been temporarily suspended <br /> due to technical issues related to the NYNEX telephone network. <br /> The Statewide Emergency Telecommunications Board(SETB)is working <br /> closely with NYNEX to rectify the technical issues in an expeditious <br /> manner noted Mr. O'Hare. <br /> The Sheriff s Department is expected to have E-911 service in operation <br /> by July 1, 1995 indicated Mr. O'Hare. It was noted that if Mashpee <br /> elects to install primary telecommunications equipment,it will further <br /> delay implementation for an additional year. <br /> Police Chief Pryzbylek recommended the Board approve the E-911 system <br /> for a trial period and monitor the secondary unit to determine the benefit <br /> for Mashpee residents. <br /> Chief Pryzbylek indicated that he is confident with the Dispatchers in <br /> Mashpee. They are well trained and the Department is well suited as a <br /> primary unit for response. <br /> Selectman Mills related concerns with regards to the contract as outlined. <br /> She recommended to allow Town Counsel to re-draft the contract to <br /> address contradictions relative to the guarantee that the Sheriffs Department <br /> will pay for future costs if Mashpee were to answer 911 calls <br /> independently in addition to other financial aspect of the proposal. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Mills to re-affirm that E-911 Calls <br /> in Mashpee will be answered by the Sheriff's Department; <br /> Barnstable County pending a contract re-draft by <br /> Town Counsel to address inconsistencies as outlined. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Costa, <br /> VOTE: 4-1. <br /> Selectman Caffyn in opposition, f <br /> Recess: 8:37 p.m. Meeting Resumed: 8:48 p.m. <br />
