Page 7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 22, 1995 <br /> I <br /> NEW B INE <br /> E <br /> AaeuWn -of <br /> Beach Concei nBid4L <br /> Communication was received from t he Leisure Services Department <br /> dated May 18, 1995 relative to Beach Concessions. Two bids were <br /> received for concessions operation at the Town beaches for the <br /> upcoming season. <br /> The Mashpee wampanoag Tribal Council submitted a bidP rice of <br /> $3,100. Hyannis Ice Cream submitted a bid of$3,120. The Leisure <br /> Service Department recommended the Board accept the high bid of <br /> $3,120 as submitted by Hyannis Ice Cream to provide food services <br /> at the Town beaches this summer. <br /> Jessie Fermin of the MashPee Wampanoag Tribal Council expressed <br /> concern to the bid estimates as received. She indicated that the Tribal <br /> Council is anxious to receive the bid award and is willing to refine the <br /> bid quotation for concessions operation. <br /> Ms.Fer wino noted that the Town of Mashpee has one of the highest <br /> ghest <br /> unemployment rates in the State of Massachusetts. It would be in the <br /> best interest of the Town as a whole to allow the Tribal Council to receive <br /> the bid. Mr.Fermi.no indicated that the Tribal Council is a local minority <br /> . onty <br /> business. <br /> E <br /> Mr.whritenour indicated that the Board of Selectmen have the authority <br /> J <br /> to accept or reject all bids under the provisions of Chapter 30B MCL. <br /> No irregularities were contained in the bid process noted Mr. whritenour. <br /> f' <br /> It was noted that the bid specifications encourage local and minori <br /> ty <br /> businesses to apply. <br /> Selectman Caffyn recommended the Board consider re-bidding for <br /> the beach concession as a result of the comparable bids received. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro agreed and noted that the Beach Concession Bid is a <br /> competitive bidding process for the benefit of the Town. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa to reject all Beach <br /> Concession bids as received and re-advertise for <br /> concession operation as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Mills. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> { <br />
