Page 8 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 28, 1995 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS• <br /> Arlene Wolk - Fire and Health Hazards: <br /> Fire Chief Baker indicated that Massachusetts has been declared <br /> D a Class v <br /> Danger zone. The conditions of rapid fire spread are resent. Chief Baker <br /> indicated that he conductedP <br /> 2 core samples in different areas of the bog <br /> -to review the moisture content. <br /> The presence of mud was detected in the core samples noted Chief Baker, ' <br /> P . <br /> The Conservation Commission refers to the roe as a wetland <br /> meadow ' property�y . <br /> indicated Chief Baker. The land is reverting to its natural <br /> existence. <br /> Chief Baker indicated that he has nojurisdiction <br /> , to order the bog to be <br /> cut or to direct a resident to install a sprinkler system. He agreed that the <br /> situation is dangerous, but other areas in MashP ee are in more of a <br /> dangerous situation at this time due to drought conditions. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro indicated that the Board of Selectmen e ectmen do not have <br /> jurisdiction over this matter of concern. <br /> John Fitzsimmons, Chairman of the Conservation ' <br /> Commission indicated <br /> that he needs documentation to declare a fire danger emergency. The <br /> jurisdiction f g. o• the Conservation Commission is wetlands. There is no <br /> significant evidence of an adverse condition explained Mr.Fitzsimmons. <br /> Mr.Fitzsimmons indicated that the applicant = <br /> must submit documentation <br /> approved by a competent wildlife biologist before the Conservation <br /> Commission can approve selective cutting. <br /> Chief Baker indicated that an extreme fire emergency . <br /> e gency does not exist <br /> in this situation. He therefore cannot declare care the bog a fire emergency._ <br /> JR/SEBIGHSCHOOL. <br /> Petition of Com Electric - Underground Cable <br /> g on Route 151 <br /> for High School: <br /> Communication was received from Commonwealth Electric dated <br /> August 16, 1995 requesting permission to install and maintain underground <br /> cable on Route 151 in Mashpee. The petition is necessary to service <br /> the new High School facility. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Mills to approve of Com Electric's <br /> p p <br /> plan no. 1008 to install underground cable along Route 151 <br /> easterly from old Barnstable Road as requested. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Di vizi o. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
