Page 6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 18, 1995 <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: <br /> In other business,Maureen Paxton and Kathy Lynch made note of <br /> an article appearing in the Enterprise five years ago today in which the <br /> Mashpee Selectmen voted to allow the sign on the Riverbend property <br /> providing that it will not be internally lit. It was noted that the sign is on <br /> Town owned property. <br /> Ms.Paxton and Ms. Lynch requested the Board review the sign that is <br /> presently situated at the above location. <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to request the Building Inspector as <br /> enforcement officer,review the existing sign code. It was noted that the <br /> Economic Development Committee is currently reviewing all Town signs. <br /> Volunteers are requested to help clean the Santuit River on September 23, <br /> 1995 informed Brad Caffyn. It was noted that a rain date is scheduled for <br /> the following Saturday at 8:00 a.m. <br /> APP NTS AND HEARING& <br /> eor e R an - John's. Pond Ski Team re: Slalom Course: <br /> George Ryan read aloud his memo of September 11, 1995 to the <br /> Mashpee Waterways Commission requesting to use an area of John's Pond <br /> for a slalom course. <br /> Jim Hanks, Chairman of the Waterways Commission indicated that the <br /> Commission voted to approve the request of the John's Pond Ski Team. <br /> Conditions imposed by the Waterways Commission were presented in_a <br /> memo dated September 13, 1995 to Mr.Whritenour. <br /> The team is using a responsible approach indicated Mr.Hanks who noted <br /> that the Harbor Master concurs with the recommendation of the Waterways <br /> Commission. <br /> Selectman Costa indicated that a Public Hearing is necessary to inform <br /> area residents,in addition to notifying the citizens who presented a <br /> petition against the ski team's proposal. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa to deny the request of <br /> the John's Pond Ski Team at this time. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Mills, <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
