f <br /> Town of Mashpee <br /> Board of Selectmen. <br /> Policy No.: 32 <br /> Guidelines for Department Head Performance Appraisal and Goal Setting <br /> g <br /> POTJCY- <br /> L <br /> Working with the Board of Selectmen,the Executive Secretary shall conduct annual <br /> erf � <br /> Performance appraisals of all Department Heads under the Selectmen's jurisdiction in <br /> accordance with the following guidelines: <br /> 1. The Executive Secretary shall complete an annual performance appraisal sal of the <br /> employee,including recommended goals for the ensuing <br /> year and a <br /> recommendation regarding a pay step increase if applicable. <br /> 2. The Executive Secretary shall distribute theerformance appraisal P to each member <br /> of the Board of Selectmen for their comments thereon an minimum of seven days <br /> prior to its placement on an agenda for y <br /> P g action by the Board. <br /> 3. Individual S electmen may provide comments regarding the appraisal,relating to ` <br /> . . g g PP � g job <br /> performance only,in writing to the Executive Secretary. All such comments <br /> received shall be appended to the appraisal for presentation to the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> 4. To finalize the appraisal,the Board of Selectmen would vote in aP ublic session to <br /> accept and approve the appraisal,to grant a pay increase if applicable, to approve <br /> and establish oafs and to approve PP <br /> g pp any comments submitted by individual Board <br /> members to be appended to and made a part of the final appraisal document. <br /> 5. Following approval and acceptance,the Executive Secretary shall meet with the <br /> employee to review the appraisal,including any comments appended, and shall <br /> discuss goals for the n FF <br /> g ensuing year. <br /> 6. An employee not satisfied with the results of an approved appraisal may request a <br /> PP , PP Y q <br /> meeting with the Board of Selectmen and the Executive Secretary for the ose of <br /> . . P�'P <br /> reviewing the appraisal. It is anticipated that this meeting will consider issues <br /> related solely to job performance and shall be conducted in an ,o enubhc meeting <br /> of the Board. P F g <br /> 7.
