Speaking to a secretary from the selectmen' s
office, Helene was told that sQme departments have submitted
it both ways ; submitted by the trustees , and also put in
as
petition article. This is the tisane article that the board
of trustees had submitted in the spring, the only difference
being the explanation, "The voters at spring town meeting
voted to acid funds to the library budget to ,increase the 1
hour circulation assistant from 19 to 25 hours. The towns-.
people recognized the need for additional. help for the l.i-
brar which has seem circulation growth by io over the
last few gears. This artic-le is the second phase of action
needed to carry out the intent of voters at spring town
meeting, and officially authorizes the change to a. standard
part-tire position. Char tote Faneuil seconded.
All in favor. So moved.
Helene explained that she had also had the article on the
reclassification which they -had submitted last spring, which
had been held off due to- the reclassification -study. The
subject was brought up at their last department head meet-
ing. Some of the department heads are currently petition
ing -for a union. The selectmen have chosen not to act upon
this' until they know whether there will be a union, or not.
This reclassification study .mar be on the fall town meeting
agenda..
Relative to the reclassification study, Dick Shaughnessy
moved that this be handled the same way as the previous
article submission. Gloria Selander seconded t -e motion.
All in fa-v6r. . So moved.
B. Capital Program: -, D. Shaughnessy explained that we have an
attractive building as it stands . He suggested that if we
expanded it to two stories it could spoil the appearance of
the building. Dick suggested extending the two wings and
the center 'section. Helene suggested that the suggestion of
using the attic for office space had some merit. Dick emelt
that that could be included in the package.
Discussion followed.
