Bacigalupi <br /> stated that if the Article remains on the Warrant, then the Town <br /> will have a► chance to vote on it. <br /> Mr. Golub mentioned that it was his opinion that the Town needs t <br /> go out of its way to see that tax Fate money is spent wisely and <br /> that the Town redefines its needs, He indicated that budgets are <br /> being balanced through revenues with increases in the Tax Rate. <br /> The burden is on the Town, <br /> The ]oint meeting ended at ; 5 I . The Finance Committee took <br /> short break and began meeting again at ;5Ni. <br /> The Committee discussed the personnel issues in the budget. Mr. <br /> Gallo asked about the four f Tref fighters. Why were they needed? <br /> Mr. Golub answered for coverage. Mr. Ferriday felt that every year <br /> it i8 the sane argument, and that no matter how many f firefighters <br /> are hired, it is never enough. Nor. Goggin asked each Committee <br /> member to state their stand regarding new/increased positions. The <br /> departments that were being discussed were Accounting, Personnel, <br /> Fire, DPW, Police, CoA, Library, Leisure services and Town Clerk. <br /> Ms King stated that she was not in favor of any new positions, <br /> Nis. Sullivan made the argument that the Town should start holding <br /> the line. Nobody is certain what impact the high school is going <br /> to have on the Town, she also mentioned that besides the tax rate <br /> increasing, many residents are also getting slammed with betterment <br /> fees.
