Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday, August 18, 2018 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall--Ockway Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members Present: Steve Cook, Joe Brait, and Tom O'Neill <br /> Absent: Geoff Gorman <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Minutes from last meeting were not available. <br /> Old Business <br /> Update on Quashnet School Window Roof Proiect <br /> Phase 3/3A work is scheduled for completion before the start of school. Roof replacement, <br /> courtyard/superintendent site work, and superintendent/courtyard window replacement are <br /> almost 100% complete. Interior bathroom renovations and exterior door replacement are still <br /> ongoing. The bathrooms have to be completed for school so additional shifts/weekend work <br /> may be required. Doors will be installed but wiring/programming of the access control system <br /> might not be finished. <br /> Phase 6A/6B/6C which is EFIS replacement around the gym began ahead of schedule. Work will <br /> be completed before students return so use of the playground will not be affected. <br /> The contractor began Phase 4A ahead of schedule (art/music classrooms). This will minimize <br /> the time students will be relocated from the classrooms. <br /> Installation of the temporary wall for Phases 4B and 4C (front corridors) will be scheduled <br /> before students return to avoid distraction. <br /> During roofing, there was damage caused to the building's fire alarm system, specifically one <br /> zone. The conduit for this zone was affixed directly to the roof deck. Screws for the insulation <br /> penetrated the conduit and wire. The zone had to be re-wired and a control panel for the <br /> alarm system replaced. The estimated cost is approximately$60,000. A meeting was held with <br /> the OPM and architect. Their recommendation to the Town Manager was to consider this an <br /> unforeseen circumstance— if the condition were known before, the Town would have incurred <br />
