Nichols <br /> Attendees Members: Brian Mauro, Donald MacDonald, Barbara Nichols, Mike Rapacz <br /> Guests: <br /> The minutes of the July 24, 2018 meeting were accepted as written after a motion by Brian Mauro and <br /> second by Mire Rapacz. <br /> Agenda topics <br /> [Agenda topic lLake levell River outflow <br /> Discussion: Barbara got the lake measurements on August I"and 141h. The height was 55.4 and 55.5 <br /> Feet above sea level with 14 and l l inches of water flowing over the board closest to the lake. There <br /> were 11.5 and 13 inches of water in the stream by the stairs. Barbara used a brush to clean the gauges to <br /> make them easier to read for a few months. There were 7.5 inches of rain in Barbara's gauge from mid- <br /> July to mid- August. <br /> Levels were reported to Drew McManus in Conservation. <br /> Poison ivy and brush continue to grow in along the path to the cage. <br /> Conclusions: The lake level is higher than usual in August due to higher precipitation. <br /> [Agenda topic 2] FallNewsletter <br /> Discussion: Topics for the newsletter were discussed. Barbara will write one on beach sampling for <br /> bacteria. Don will write an article on Al Turner's idea of lowering HP on boat motors on Mashpee <br /> Wakeby lake. When asked to write an article on fresh water quality sampling, Mike said that to his <br /> knowledge, no data for 2018 had been collected on any of the fresh water lakes in Mashpee. This <br /> concerned the committee, and it was decided to write to Ashley Fisher and Rick York in Natural <br /> Resources asking them not to forget the importance of continuing the fresh water quality testing that has <br /> been carried on for years by volunteers in town. Maintaining the water quality of the lakes is important to <br /> the town and data needs to be collected. <br /> Conclusions: Topics for the newsletter were discussed. Barbara will write to Natural Resources regarding <br /> the importance of continuing the fresh water quality monitoring. <br />
