[Agenda topic 3] Ramp Repatx Update
Discussion: There is no news on the ramp repair. Al Turner continues to seek the help of the State
through Dave DeMatollic.
Conclusions: The ramp still needs to be repaired.
[Agenda topic 4]Iricidents on Ramp/Lake
Discussion: Debi received an email from a day tripper from Boston, who was threatened with stabbing
and tires were slashed by locals. She was upset that the police who responded at Attaquin Beach parking
lot just said they knew who the perpetrators were and did nothing. We forwarded her letter to Andrew
Gottlieb who in turn sent it on to the Town Manager. Return correspondence revealed that a Wampanoag
had been charged criminally with malicious destruction of property and the case is pending.
Barbara contacted Conservation who in turn notified Natural Resources about the striped bass that had
been noted dead near the shore prior to our last meeting. Al Turner notified Barbara to contact the Mass
Environmental Police. Brain Mauro, who saw the fish, contacted Mass Environmental Police, who in turn
referred him to Natural Resource Dept. in Town.
In her trips to the lakes the past month, Barbara has noted many infractions, and others have been
reported to her. On the 12'11, her son on a pontoon boat, witnessed two boys on POWs chasing 4 swans
until they flew off. Another came within 5 feet of a cormorant.
On August 5"', a PCW came within 50 feet of swimmers, and two PCWs were using the swim buoys of
Lakewood Assoc. as a slalom course.
On the 14"', a PCW came within 20 feet of two swimmers on rafts by Barbara's dock.
On the 17"', 2 PCWs were racing up and down the middle of the lake at 8 PM dispatch was notified and
advised to meet the culprits at the boat ramp as it was becoming dark.
Two sets ofpaddle boarders were seen paddling on the lake with no life jackets..
On the 21St, a man in his 40s on a PCW asked my grandson if he could leave his PCW on our shore
overnight. My grandson had noted the same PCW left at the far left under trees by the boat ramp 2 nights
ago. Request was refused and assistant harbormaster notified.
The Assistant was aware of situation and said the rider had been observed walking into the ramp area. No
car or trailer was in the lot .He may have been camping in the woods.
Conclusions: Serious infractions continue to occur.
[Agenda topic S] Beach Sampling
Discussion: The water sampling program of Barnstable County, which tests several marine and fresh
water lakes in the area for fecal bacteria, continues. Both Attaquin Beach and Camp Farley areas passed
all weekly tests between June 1"and August 22nd
Conclusions: No bacteria have been found in the weekly Barnstable County testing of Mashpee Wakeby.
