5
Finance Committee
Minutes
August 30, 2018
Continued Review of Draft October 15, 2018 Annual Town Meeting Warrant
in preparation for Annual Finance Committee Report: (continued)
Article # 12: Seasonal signage—Previously approved.
It was noted the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce is fully supportive of this article as it relates to
the benefit of the Mashpee business community.
Article 415: Light Industrial Overlay, map included.
Evan Lehrer indicated there is a business presence in the Route 130 that is under-utilized and
under-developed. This is a community development opportunity and a business generator. The
article would provide for flexibility in that, a range of industrial uses can be permitted while
enhancing the architectural integrity of the area and provide new opportunities for the small
business owner. This district should be predominately pedestrian friendly.
Motion made by Mr. McKelvey to approve and recommend Article 415 as presented.
Motion seconded by Mr. Pettengill.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Mr. Richardson,yes Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. Avis,yes
Mr. McKelvey, yes Mrs. Furbush, yes Opposed, none
Article #22: Proposed language to make it clearer as to where a swimming pool can be placed.
Jonathan Furbush, Zoning Board of Appeals clarified the need to provide language in the Town
Bylaw Use of Regulations booklet as there is nothing listed. All pools will be required to meet
the minimum setbacks required in the zoning district within which they are proposed to be built.
No swimming pool shall be placed in the front yard of any property. This applies to above
ground pools, in ground pools and hot tubs, not kiddie pools. This can be appealed to the ZBA.
Motion made by Mr. Avis to approve and recommend Article 922 as presented.
Motion seconded by Mrs. Furbush.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Mr. Richardson, yes Mr. Pettengill, yes Mr. Avis, yes
Mr. McKelvey, yes Mrs. Furbush, yes Opposed, none
