Minutes of Meeting of
Design Review Committee
Held Tuesday, October 16, 2018
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Dan provided a rough color drawing of the main building depicting the main 7,200 sq. ft.
standard metal building structure with an overhang on the gable end to break up the facade.
The smaller building is a 2,400 to be used mainly for storage and is similar looking to the
main building. He said that there are copulas on the roof to break up the ridge line and the
building is about 75-80 ft. back off the pavement. There's a nice portico on the gable end
to break up the facade. They take into consideration the views from the street, and the
buildings are fairly isolated from the road. The clients are dedicated to having a beautiful
building and will keep it well maintained.
Mike Mendoza, Building Commissioner wanted specifics on the color scheme.
Attorney Lawler provided the committee with a sample color aluminum item that will be the
color of the building. They also had a marine blue sample swatch of the trim. Both buildings
will be similar in look and design. He apologized for not having the specific drawings.
Mr. Cummings asked about the handicapped parking. Mr. Ojala said it's on the site plan,
and there are two dedicated spaces.
Mr. Furbush asked about the lot coverage. Dan said the percent lot coverage is 14.8%and
25% is allowed.
Mr. Cummings asked about signage. Dan said there will be a free standing sign on the
east side of the entrance and will have designated lighting. The main building will have a
sign to the allowed specifications, and the small building will have just an identification sign.
Mr. Peters said that the rough color drawings of the buildings were difficult to determine
the elevations.
Mr. Mendoza said that the purpose of Design Review is to review the appearance of the
Structures.
Mr. Mendoza polled the committee to ask their comments.
Mr. Peters would like to see better scale proportions of the buildings. He commented that
he likes the shutters on the building, but the proportions are so grand it's hard to determine
the look. He said that the windows seem small for such a large building. He also asked
about the trim.
Mr. Furbush asked how many Morton Buildings were built in Town.
Attorney Lawler said there are several Morton Buildings that were built in and there are
some that are owned by the Town.
Mr. Cummings and Mr. Furbush liked the look of the sign with the address for the street,
but wants to see the signage for the buildings.
Mr. Mendoza said that the signage for the building will require another meeting with Design
Review. The committee looks at the size, the color, and if illuminated.
Mr. Furbush has no more issues.
2
