Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 3 1,201 <br /> Members ofthe Capital Improvement Program CI Committee met for the <br /> purpose of reviewing capital project needs for fiscal year 2014. It is anticipated <br /> the Town would tentatively earmark$500,000 in free cash for the upcoming <br /> capital budget* <br /> The CIP Committee,net with the following Department Heads to review <br /> estimated disbursements associated to the Capital Improvement Program. <br /> INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY—Total CIP Request; $75,200: <br /> David Delvecchio,the Town's Network Administrator was attendance to <br /> review capital needs for technology improvements within the following <br /> categories; <br /> QpenCMeLaterals—FYI+_$25 4000& FYI 5_$25 000: <br /> OpenCape is non-profit corporation federally funded to construct a <br /> comprehensive communications network to support the economic,educational, <br /> RD <br /> public safety and governmental needs of the southeast Massachusetts region. In <br /> the broadband technology.opportunity program,brant funding provides for the <br /> connection of fiber-optic data,voice and video support for all 15 Cape towns. To <br /> date,the Mashpee Town Hall,the Mashpee High School and Public Library are <br /> ' connected to the OpenCape.broadband. <br /> In the capital project Proposal,Mr. Delviecchio has proposed funding,at the <br /> Town's Municipal Complex to allow for the trenching and installation of conduit <br /> on torn-owned property to install the cormection of the fiber optic cable to the <br /> Police, Fire, and Council on Aging buildings. The project also includes laterals <br /> for the K.C. Coombs and Quashnet Schools. The capital project would provide n <br /> emergency services infrastructure for voice, data, and video needs of the first <br /> responders as well as expanding the capacity of existing services to the schools <br /> and the senior center. <br /> In the $25,000 FYI 5 capital program,theconduit would be installed on town- <br /> owned land on Great Neck Road North at.the Kids Klub, at the Fire Substation o <br /> Redbrook Road and at the DPW building on Meetinghouse Road. <br /> This$25,000 project.i <br /> prioritized by the Network Administrator for funding in <br /> FY14. Mr. Delvecchio explained that it is a small project with a bi g return. It is <br /> anticipated the Open.Cape inftastructure would be operational this steer or fall. ; <br />
