Capital Improvement Program Committee Minutes January 3 1,201 Members ofthe Capital Improvement Program CI Committee met for the purpose of reviewing capital project needs for fiscal year 2014. It is anticipated the Town would tentatively earmark$500,000 in free cash for the upcoming capital budget* The CIP Committee,net with the following Department Heads to review estimated disbursements associated to the Capital Improvement Program. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY—Total CIP Request; $75,200: David Delvecchio,the Town's Network Administrator was attendance to review capital needs for technology improvements within the following categories; QpenCMeLaterals—FYI+_$25 4000& FYI 5_$25 000: OpenCape is non-profit corporation federally funded to construct a comprehensive communications network to support the economic,educational, RD public safety and governmental needs of the southeast Massachusetts region. In the broadband technology.opportunity program,brant funding provides for the connection of fiber-optic data,voice and video support for all 15 Cape towns. To date,the Mashpee Town Hall,the Mashpee High School and Public Library are ' connected to the OpenCape.broadband. In the capital project Proposal,Mr. Delviecchio has proposed funding,at the Town's Municipal Complex to allow for the trenching and installation of conduit on torn-owned property to install the cormection of the fiber optic cable to the Police, Fire, and Council on Aging buildings. The project also includes laterals for the K.C. Coombs and Quashnet Schools. The capital project would provide n emergency services infrastructure for voice, data, and video needs of the first responders as well as expanding the capacity of existing services to the schools and the senior center. In the $25,000 FYI 5 capital program,theconduit would be installed on town- owned land on Great Neck Road North at.the Kids Klub, at the Fire Substation o Redbrook Road and at the DPW building on Meetinghouse Road. This$25,000 project.i prioritized by the Network Administrator for funding in FY14. Mr. Delvecchio explained that it is a small project with a bi g return. It is anticipated the Open.Cape inftastructure would be operational this steer or fall. ;
