8
Community Preservation Committee
Minutes
August 16, 2018
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS
Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works - Review of Projects: (continued)
Ockwgy Bay Boat Ramp Project—Phase11:
The $121,500 Ockway Bay Boat Ramp project is underway with Conservation Commission
permitting complete for the new parking lot. It is projected that construction would begin in
October with completion in the spring. The shells on the driveway area have been removed.
A future phase related to this project would provide a maintenance facility and storage area for
the Department of Natural Resources. The project is currently in the Capital Improvement
Program.
Mashpee Greenway Pathwqy& Footbridge Project:
It was disclosed Catherine Laurent was not involved in the second application of the Mashpee
Greenway Pathway & Footbridge project when the second application for additional funding was
not approved by the Community Preservation Committee.
It was noted the application(s) for the pathway and footbridge have been submitted by the
Conservation Commission with the Planning Board serving as co-applicant. CPC member and
Planning Board Chair Mary Waygan reviewed this project as the Conservation Agent was unable
to attend this meeting,
As noted, meetings have been ongoing with residents, town staff members and volunteers to
consider this project with additional resources which may be available. The AmeriCorps and
other conservation groups may provide assistance with trail work.
A site has been identified across the river. As a result of this new location a smaller bridge is
considered on land currently owned by the Conservation Commission. To date, there is
approximately $67,000 in this account. 1t is unclear if the project can be completed with the use
of the existing CPC budget.
