Town Manager <br /> Charles Gasior, Clerk Catherine Laurent x DPW Director <br /> George Schmidt Mile Richardson, B S Liaison <br /> Tom Murphy <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Mark Daviini called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. <br /> PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE— Recited. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS — None. <br /> e. <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES —January 23, 2014 <br /> George Schmidt made a motion that the minutes from the 1/23/2014 Finance Committee meeting <br /> be approved as presented. Theresa Cook seconded the rn otion. The motion was approved by a <br /> Vote of - absent). <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Guest speaker: Catherine Laurent, DPW Director <br /> -Ms. Laurent stated that l lashpee's current contract with SEMASS runs out the end of 2014. The <br /> Town is considering three options for handling of the Transfer Station operation, going forward. r <br /> Option 1: continue doing business with the current contractor SEMASS <br /> Option : conduct an FFP for additional contract bids <br /> Optica 3: consider having the Town tak over the entire operation (Pay as you Throw) <br /> Total Expense and Capital for Option #1: $911,100; Option #2: $979,550; Option #3: $9193067. <br /> Theresa Cook stated that the Board of Selectmen has already approved a recommendation for <br /> Option 1. Charles Gaslor reported that the Town of Sandwich, which has adopted the Pay as you <br /> Throw system, has experienced a reduction in tonnage waste every year, and are now seeing <br /> fearer people going to the transfer station than they were before. Mr. Ga i r felt that going forward, <br /> iashpee should leave its options open. <br /> B. B s Liaison Report—Mike Richardson <br /> - <br /> Library:: planning to pint together a management study along with an operational year <br /> plan. :library Director Kathy Mahoney acknowledged the fact that charge doesn't happen <br /> overnight. <br />
