f <br /> Dr. Gordon noted that Commissioners received a copy of Lou <br /> Schwartz ' s resignation with the mailing. A motion was made, <br /> seconded, and unanimously voted to write a letter of thanks <br /> to Lou for his service. Mr. Hoeyer suggested advertising the <br /> opening* Dr. Gordon would like to investigate Perry Ellis <br /> becoming a Commissioner. <br /> The Minutes of November 1 , 1994 were accepted. <br /> Dr. Gordon reported Waterways does not have a Liaison to FinCom <br /> at present. <br /> HARBORMASTER'S REPORT: Mr. Ellis stated he was away for 2 1/2 <br /> weeks. He picked up a canoe, a junk skiff, and also a boat <br /> n Little liver. Two patrol boats are still in but will come <br /> out soon. All is running well . He is preparing the budget _ <br /> for next year; mooring bills will be going out soon. The <br /> proposed closing of Jehu Pond is December 15th; i t is loaded <br /> with seed. Perry referred to theWilliams ' dock that was <br /> discussed in October which involves building a pier over Town <br /> property, They need a letter, and Mr. Ellis would like input <br /> from the Commission re: going over the Town owned marsh; ConCom <br /> passed on it. Dr. Gordon noted there is no problem to <br /> navigation, and waterways is not opposed to the dock being placed <br /> on and over Town property as long as it is a► legal dock. A <br /> motion was made that Waterways Commission position is they have <br /> no objection to theWilliam's dock being placed in front of <br /> their property so long as it is legal and the Selectmen are <br /> apprised that the dock will be placed- on and over Town. property. <br /> Mr. Ellis will draft the requested letter. <br /> George Ryan and Marc DlTergo were present to discuss a slalom <br /> water ski course they want to install on John' s Pond. A video <br /> was shown; liability coverage o $1 ,000,000 was emphasized. <br /> The course would be maintained by a ski club, and there would <br /> he competitive ski events. They want a permit to put a course <br /> in ohn' s' Pond for three seasons , and it was mated that Mr. <br /> Ellis can help facilitate this. Mr.. Ellis wants the approval <br /> for this from the S61ectmen. A diagram of the course was <br /> distributed, and Mr, Ryan read a petition that was signed by <br /> residents. Dr. Gordon noted that Waterways approved a trial <br /> period of four weeks last summer, and Mr. Ryan stated that it <br /> was not a long enough time. Mr. Ryan would like Monday through <br /> Friday starting at 10 : 00 a.m. The alternative of using a <br /> submerged course (Accu-Sink) was discussed. Mr. Luna did not <br /> see a problem with the proposed location. Dr. Gordon expressed <br /> concern about the jump ramp and the liability factor, and it <br /> was a {reed that the ramp would be moved to shore when not in <br /> use. Dr. Gordon suggested having a public hearing on the ski <br /> jure and slalom course. Mr. Hanks stated that if they comply <br /> with the state requirements and come up with a elan, thea Mr. <br /> -2- <br />
