TOM CAHIR excused STATE PRESENT: NICK V NT ALIDES, COUNSEL FOR DEM SA DI WOLCHANSKI ALSO PRESENT: GEORGE COSTA, SELECTMAN LIAISON, GUS FREDERICK, LEISURE SER TICES, RICHARD F'LEMINC, SOUTH CAPE BEACH SUPERVISOR The meeting convened at 7 :05 p. m. The minutes of the Frebruarr 13, 1995 meeting were accepted as pre- -rented. The sole purpose of this meeting was to discuss DEMIs. South Cape Beach Recreation Area Management Plan. Ohm. Kirsner stated that he had prepared a summary f the major issues which should be addressed in order to try to expedite this matter t make it possible for the South Cape Beach State Park to open in June 1995, as scheduled. A number of these conc-erns deal with the question f monitoring the grounds , the sand dunes, the gates , monitoring access by ORV's and over-the-sand vehicles, whether, or not there would be sufficient lifeguards to supervise the beach area. As has- beenpointed out by other townspeople, the operation of the state facility has been projected to be for a period of one year, within which period of operation, manor situations will arise, Chm. Kirsner had discussed these concerns with Sandi Wolehanski and Nick Vontalides in hope --that something could be structured that could be beneficial, DEM has represented to Chr . Kirsner that they are willing to go on record that as problems should arise, they will meet with the committee t our request to address the problems to the extent that they can. They have expressed their cooperation. , Kirsner, In speaking with the representatives from 'DEM indicated that he would like them to guide the advisory committee to whom to contact to encourage the allocation of greater funding for the pu .- poses of monitoring the beach.
