r G. B.
AUGUST 29 , 1995
PAGE
I DISCUSSION F ISSUE HUNTING ON SOUTH GAPE BEACH FOR 1995/96
HUNTING SEASON: (Continued)
M. Kirsner explained that the question of whether hunting should
be continued mut cone before the interests of the public, and
their question of liberty and safety far outweigh the custom
of hunting. At some point in time, hunting will have to be
discontinued at south Cape Beach. Each year the decision becomes
more difficult for the committee.
The question was put to a vote among the committee:
In Favor Of Hunting
Opposed: 2
Hunting on South Gape Beach will be continued as in previous
years.
Roland Delliveau, representative of the hunter's, thanked
Kirsner and the -committee for their decision.
II DISCUSSION OF BOARD OF SELECTMEN EXERCISING THE OPTION OF
`FAKING THE NEW FACILITY his THE NEW TOWN BEACH:
The board of selectmen would like to move forward to have the
new facility taken over by the town as. the New 'Fawn Beach, The
current town beach is built on a dune, and in the event of a
storm, the town could be left without a town beach. The option
to exercise ,could be the very first step. In the Agreement,
there is a provision that there has to be funding available to
complete- the visitor' s center and other am nities, as described
in the Agreement. It is an obligation on the part of .DELI to
complete these amenities, funding. being available. This issue
must be presented at Town Meeting, and put to a vote by the
townspeople before the town could actually acquire the facility.
Jim vacaro, selectman suggested that the -town immediately ex-
ercise the option. If the town sloes vote to take it over,
IIx'. Kirsner would make a presentation before the townspeople
n behalf of the committee.
After discussion, the committee was in favor of. ,exercising
the option of .t } ing the new facility a the town beach, as
recommended by the board of _selectmen.
III DISCUSSION OF CLOSING GATE AT WILLS WORK ROAD.
It has been reported that the date at the beach is not being
closed*
