e' 1 <br /> South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 4, 2005 <br /> Iv WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE (Continued) <br /> Jack Cramer stated that he would like the minutes to show <br /> that if a meeting should be required in Jack 's absence, <br /> Jerry Smith, vice Chairman of the committee, willcom- <br /> municate with the secretary to secure- a date for the meet- <br /> ing from Town Hall, and Jerry will prepare the agenda and <br /> conduct the meeting, <br /> . <br /> Joe Souza advised Jack Cramer that if ever there were an <br /> occasion when a meeting room was unavailable at Town Hall , <br /> it would be possible to use a. meeting room at WBNERR. Jack <br /> was pleased with this possibility since he felt it was very <br /> important that the committee es=tablish a closer relationship <br /> with the people at, wBNRR, both the Reserve Manager and the <br /> senior supervisor, <br /> Jack explained that following our previous meeting, in con- <br /> versation with Joe Souza, Jack asked him what i.s needs were <br /> relative to the state park. Joe answered that his #1 priority <br /> ..,vas <br /> riority. s lifeguards, <br /> Bill made a emotion relative to the hiring of lifeguards for <br /> South Cape Beach. •Theme have not been any lifeguards since <br /> 2002 . we, as a committee, recommend end that there be four <br /> lifeguards hired, and the salaries be fully funded by the <br /> State. The lack of lifeguards presents a public safety <br /> hazard. <br /> Jerry Smith seconded the motion. All in favor. So moved. <br /> Jerry Smith stated that the South Cape Beach Advisory Com- <br /> mittee recommended the installation of an elevated board- <br /> walk to replace the existing around-level boardwalk to facili- <br /> tate handicap access to the' beach. The purpose would be to <br /> eliminate the constant drifting of the boardwalk sand which <br /> makes the boardwalkimpassible. <br /> Lance seconded the motion. All in favor. So moved., <br /> V ' DISCUSSION OF OTHER NEEDS FOR S B: <br /> 1. Showers <br /> 2, Restrooms <br /> These were facilities that were originally proposed for <br /> the state park, and have never been completed. <br /> Bill stated that when we negotiated this with the state, <br /> there were many things they were going to do that have <br /> not been accomplished. <br />
