e' 1 South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee Minutes January 4, 2005 Iv WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE (Continued) Jack Cramer stated that he would like the minutes to show that if a meeting should be required in Jack 's absence, Jerry Smith, vice Chairman of the committee, willcom- municate with the secretary to secure- a date for the meet- ing from Town Hall, and Jerry will prepare the agenda and conduct the meeting, . Joe Souza advised Jack Cramer that if ever there were an occasion when a meeting room was unavailable at Town Hall , it would be possible to use a. meeting room at WBNERR. Jack was pleased with this possibility since he felt it was very important that the committee es=tablish a closer relationship with the people at, wBNRR, both the Reserve Manager and the senior supervisor, Jack explained that following our previous meeting, in con- versation with Joe Souza, Jack asked him what i.s needs were relative to the state park. Joe answered that his #1 priority ..,vas riority. s lifeguards, Bill made a emotion relative to the hiring of lifeguards for South Cape Beach. •Theme have not been any lifeguards since 2002 . we, as a committee, recommend end that there be four lifeguards hired, and the salaries be fully funded by the State. The lack of lifeguards presents a public safety hazard. Jerry Smith seconded the motion. All in favor. So moved. Jerry Smith stated that the South Cape Beach Advisory Com- mittee recommended the installation of an elevated board- walk to replace the existing around-level boardwalk to facili- tate handicap access to the' beach. The purpose would be to eliminate the constant drifting of the boardwalk sand which makes the boardwalkimpassible. Lance seconded the motion. All in favor. So moved., V ' DISCUSSION OF OTHER NEEDS FOR S B: 1. Showers 2, Restrooms These were facilities that were originally proposed for the state park, and have never been completed. Bill stated that when we negotiated this with the state, there were many things they were going to do that have not been accomplished.
