SOUTH CAPE BEACH STATE PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES - ANNUAL HUNTING MEETING TUESDAY, JUNE 7 , 2005 6 : 00 P. M. I PRESENT: JOHN CRAMER MICHAEL CARDIERO FRANK CONNELLY ROBERT LANCASTER LANCE LAMBROS WILLIAM MARTIROS CAREY MURPHY JERALYN SMITH ABSENT: C. BEN LOFCHIE GUS FREDERICK (excused) ALSO PRESENT: JOE SOUZA, PARK SUPERVISOR HUNTERS II APPROVE MINUTES OF MARCH 22 , 2005 : The minutes were unanimously approved and accepted. III INTRODUCE NEW MEMBERS: The two new members present: Frank Connelly and Robert Lancaster introduced themselves to the meeting. Gus Frederick was unable to attend and was excused. IV DISCUSS ISSUE OF HUNTING ON SOUTH CAPE BEACH STATE PARK FOR 2005/2006 SEASON: Jack explained that hunting on the South Beach State Park under the 1981 Agreement was not an allowed activity, but once a year, this committee can give permission for hunting to exist during the hunting season as long as it has been determined that hunting does not create any problems in terms of safety, or in terms of residents residing too close to the locus of the hunt- ing. It is an annual review. Some years the vote has been rather tight. The critical part of this evaluation is that Joe Souza who is the park supervisor, gives us a report on whether there have been any incidents that might have occurred that might have an impact on this decision. Joe Souza reported that there have been no incidents; .no reason to discontinue hunting. There were six men present representing the hunters . They in- troduced themselves and stated their case in favor of the continuation of hunting on South Cape Beach State Park. There was discussion relative to the use of lead shot and steel shot.
