TOWN OF MASHPEE SOUTH CAPE BEACH STATE PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, July '18, 2006 Members Present: Members Absent: Jack Cramer Robert Lancaster Frank Connelly Michael Cardeiro Lance Lambros Gus Frederick Ben Lofchie Carey Murphy Bill Martiros Jeralyn Smith Chairman Jack Cramer called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. REVIEW OF MINUTES The minutes from the meeting held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 were corrected as follows: Page 2, paragraph 3, line 2, replace the name Jack Cramer with the name Ben Lofchie. The committee unanimously approved as corrected the 5130106 minutes. DISCUSSION OF THE BILL MARTIROS LETTER The committee members voiced various opinions on suggested changes to the original letter written by Bill Martiros, on whether changes should be made, to'whom the letter should be sent, and at what point in time it should be sent. It was noted that a private meeting is scheduled for the week of July 241" between Town officials and Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal officials, to discuss the consequences of the Tribe's likely recognition by the Federal government in the spring of 2007. The Town officials at the meeting will be Town Manager Joyce Mason, Selectmen John Cahalane, Don Meyers, and Town Counsel Patrick Costello. After discussion among the committee members as to how best to proceed, Ben Lofchie made a motion that the Committee wait until after Town officials and Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal officials hold their scheduled meeting at Town Hall on 7/26106. Depending upon the outcome of that meeting, the Committee will then decide whether, and to whom, to send the letter. The Committee fully expects to have representation at the negotiation table when it goes to the State for discussion of the South Cape Beach State Park. Frank Connelly seconded the motion. All approved. SCB STATE PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION Jack Cramer announced that due to personal health reasons, he was resigning his post as Chairman of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee, as.weli as his seat on the Committee, effective July 18, 2006. Jeralyn Smith made a motion that the Committee accept Jack Cramer's resignation as Chairman of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee, as of 7/18106. Ben Lofchie seconded the motion. All approved. Carey.Murphy made a motion that Jeralyn Smith be appointed as the inew Chairman of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee: Bill Martiros.seconded the motion. All approved. Lance Lambros made a motion that Frank Connelly be appointed as Vice Chairman of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee. Carey Murphy seconded the motion. All approved. 1
